Our story

Why I built HopFocus

Kia ora, I'm Ny. I'm a homeschooling mum, and HopFocus started at my kitchen table.

My children are neurodivergent. I know the pain points: worksheets that overwhelm, apps that are loud and rushed, curriculum documents that are hard to turn into a real day of learning, and the stress of keeping records for the Ministry. I couldn't find one place that did it all in a calm, kind way, so I started building it for my own family.

I put my own study and our own struggles into it, and HopFocus was shaped with an overview from qualified teachers and teacher aides, to help make sure the curriculum is delivered correctly and that the checks Hop makes along the way are accurate. My children still learn with HopFocus every day, so if something is confusing or too hard, I hear about it first, and I fix it.

Then I realised this wasn't just our story. So many Kiwi families, here and overseas, want a good education for their kids without the stress, and without five different apps and a pile of printouts. HopFocus is my way of making homeschooling and extra learning easier for our community.

What I believe

Learning should be fun. That's why Hop exists.

Parents should always be in control, and always able to see what's being taught.

What helps neurodivergent kids (calm screens, short steps, no pressure) helps every kid.

We should listen. Every email gets read.
